Long Bio:

As a motivational speaker,  childhood trauma advocate and determined survivor, Cortney considers stories to be the catalyst for change in our communities.  She created a platform, Thursday Thrive, for people to share their stories of overcoming adversity in order to uncover the blessings, lessons and transformations that only adversity can provide.

As a childhood trauma survivor, Cortney has learned firsthand how beliefs and mindsets can either help or hinder a successful life.  Cortney's story, which includes nine of the ten most common Adverse Childhood Experiences, prompted her to help survivors validate and acknowledge their pain, while empowering them to recognize they have the power and choice to overcome it. She is an advocate for youth and adult survivors of childhood trauma and helps to bring awareness to the world in an effort to intervene and stop the generational cycles of abuse, neglect and dysfunction.

Her vulnerability meets people where they are and radically inspires them to change not only their perspective, but also the world around them. Through powerful storytelling, she delivers insights, tools and techniques to help her audience break through limiting beliefs and restricting habits once and for all, so they can live the most fulfilling lives they can imagine!

Cortney was nominated as one of Nashville's Top 30 Under 30 for her philanthropic and advocacy efforts in Middle Tennessee. She's also been featured by publications such as The Mighty, Brit +Co & Yahoo.

Her client list includes organizations across the nation such as GoNoodle, Purdue University and The University of North Florida.  She has also delivered authentic and trauma-informed programs to numerous high school students and professional development programs on Adverse Childhood Experiences to high school faculty and administration.

Cortney is also a State of Tennessee Certified Public Accountant, serving clients as an independent financial consultant.  Becoming a CPA was a pivotal milestone in Cortney's journey because it demonstrated her ability to attain any goal she set her mind to, regardless of her past experiences.  She began her career at Ernst & Young, LLP where she served clients for four years in the Audit and Assurance service line.  She is a Summa Cum Laude Graduate of The University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and obtained her Master of Accountancy from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  She was raised in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and is an honors graduate of Mt. Juliet High School.
